As featured in the Dec 2011/Jan 2012 issue of The Mediator, CMU will be centralising its operations which will see our Regional North and Central centres decommissioned in favour of a larger setup at The Treasury building located along High Street.
To commemorate the Community Mediation Centre's (CMC) 10th Anniversary, the Community Mediation Unit (CMU) organized a half-day Mediation Conference followed by celebratory Dinner on Saturday, 1 November 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The second CEP was on equipping the participants with 'Building Skills'. The briefing provided participants with knowledge about alternative dispute resolution as well as insight to mediation as a useful life-skill.
On 16 Apr 2007, Community Mediation Unit (CMU) collaborated in a pilot training programme organised by the Community Engagement Directorate, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Home Team Academy to brief and train a pilot group of civil servants working on the Community Engagement Programme (CEP) in the CEP cluster lead agencies.
To encourage this spirit of mediation among the youth, the Community Mediation Unit (CMU) met with a team of Singapore Management University (SMU) Business School undergraduates on 15 February 2007 to offer guidance on the running of peer mediation programmes, and to provide pointers on training methods that the undergraduates might adopt to effectively impart mediation skills to the young.
With effect from 28 February 2007, Community Mediation Centre (Regional East) ("CMC RE") located at Marine Parade District Hall moved its operations back to the Community Mediation Unit's Headquarters located at URA Centre East Wing.
