SGLaw200
The Ministry of Law advances access to justice, the rule of law, the economy and society through policy, law and services.
This year, we mark SGLaw200 – 200 years of Singapore’s modern judicial and legal system, which traces its roots to the enactment of the Second Charter of Justice in 1826. Our legal system and the Rule of Law have been fundamental to Singapore’s development. They drive our economic growth, ensure public safety, maintain racial and religious harmony, and support our key social policies. As we commemorate the Bicentennial, we also take the opportunity to look ahead, to explore how we can continue to evolve the Rule of Law to meet our emerging challenges.
SGLaw200 reiterates our commitment to the Rule of Law where everyone is equally subject to the laws and its protections. A trusted legal system, a trusted Singapore.
