Official Visit to China by Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Mr Edwin Tong SC

1. Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Mr Edwin Tong SC will be making an official visit to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from 30 June to 3 July 2025, where he will meet with his Chinese counterparts.
2. Minister Tong will be delivering the opening speech at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) China Conference. The Conference brings together legal practitioners and industry experts to discuss developments in international arbitration. Minister Tong will also speak at the Singapore International Mediation Centre’s (SIMC) Specialist Mediators Empanelment Ceremony, to welcome a new cohort of specialist mediators who will contribute to the growing field of international commercial mediation.
3. While in Beijing, Minister Tong will meet with PRC Chief Justice Zhang Jun, Prosecutor General Ying Yong, as well as Minister of Justice He Rong to exchange views and discuss potential collaboration opportunities in the legal and judicial fields. In addition, Minister Tong will have a meeting with Mr Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), to deepen legal and dispute resolution cooperation between Singapore and China.
4. Minister Tong will also meet his Home Affairs counterparts, including PRC Minister of Emergency Management Wang Xiangxi, Vice Minister of Public Security Xu Datong and Deputy Secretary of Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection (International Affairs) Fu Kui.
5. Minister Tong will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
