Singapore Ministry of Law and Uzbekistan Ministry of Justice Sign Cooperation Programme

1. The Singapore Ministry of Law (MinLaw) and the Uzbekistan Ministry of Justice signed a Cooperation Programme today to advance the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties on 22 April 2021. The MOU signed in 2021 provided a framework for legal cooperation between the two countries, which included exchanging information on promoting the Rule of Law, and sharing experiences in the provision of legal services, including on international dispute resolution services.
2. The Cooperation Programme was signed by Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Transport, Mr Murali Pillai SC and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr Sherzad Rabiev, at the sidelines of the Singapore Convention Week 2025.
3. The Cooperation Programme outlines the plan for joint activities and collaborations between MinLaw and Uzbekistan Ministry of Justice for 2025 and 2026. These include:
i) Organisation of mutual visits between both Ministries.
ii) Discussions in the field of professional development and training of legal personnel.
iii) Exchange of experiences in various areas such as international dispute resolution, Singapore Convention on Mediation, promotion of Rule of Law and legal aid.
4. Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Transport, Mr Murali Pillai SC said, “The signing of the Cooperation Programme is a testament of our shared commitment to collaboration, both in advancing the Rule of Law and in fostering meaningful dialogue on developments in the legal sector. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Uzbekistan in legal cooperation.”
