Ministry of Law Strengthens Bilateral Ties on the Side Of Singapore Convention Signing Ceremony and Conference

Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with Belarus’s Minister of Justice Oleg Slizhevsky this morning. This Memorandum of Understanding will deepen and strengthen legal cooperation and ties between Singapore and Belarus, as well as the Ministry of Law and Belarus’s Ministry of Justice.

Later that afternoon, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam and Senior Minister of State for Law Mr Edwin Tong, together with Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for the Council of Ministers Affairs of Qatar, co-chaired the inaugural Joint Committee Meeting between the Singapore Ministry of Law and the Qatar Ministry of Justice. During the meeting, they exchanged information about the work of each of their ministries to strengthen mutual understanding. They also explored potential areas of future collaboration and identified several technical areas of interest for future study and exchange of information.

There were also bilateral meetings with the Benin’s Minister of Justice and Legislation Sévérin Maxime Quenum, Lao PDR Minister of Justice Xaysi Santivong, Philippines’s Secretary of Justice Menardo I. Guevarra, Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Justice Zekeriya Birkan, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Minister of Justice Merettagan Taganov, where we reaffirmed our warm relations with these countries.
