Official Visit to Saudi Arabia by Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam

1. Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, from 4 March 2024 to 7 March 2024.
2. Minister Shanmugam is attending the inaugural Riyadh International Disputes Week (RIDW), where he will be participating and speaking at:
a. A panel discussion titled _‘Legal & Economic landscape - Regional Trends and International Perspectives on Commercial ADR’_ at the Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA)’s 3rd International Conference on 6 March 2024, which is the flagship event of RIDW. Minister Shanmugam will be joined by Dr Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani, Minister of Justice, Saudi Arabia; Mr Nawaf Al-Mowada, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, Kingdom of Bahrain; Dr Hab. Marcin Czepelak, Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA); Mr Toby Landau KC, Vice Chairman, SCCA; Vice President, Court of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC); and Board Member, Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC);
b. A fireside chat on how effective dispute resolution supports growth in Singapore and Riyadh, at an event jointly organised by the SIAC, the SIMC, and the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) on 7 March 2024. The session will be moderated by Mr Toby Landau KC.
c. A public lecture titled _‘Governance and the Rule of Law: The Singapore Experience’_, which will be held at the Al-Faisal University on 5 March 2024.
3. During his visit, Minister Shanmugam will also be meeting his Saudi Arabian counterparts and stakeholders in both his capacity as Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law.
4. Minister Shanmugam will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Law.
